Sihuanhá Furniture
2015
The process of creation always involves building upon something else.
This project was originally developed in a sawmill in Chisec, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. As logs are turned into lumber, there’s some leftover wood which is usually discarded. So, in the spirit of reusing, and building upon something else, Sihuanhá Furniture was born. The objective was simple: to give new life and purpose to what others would normally consider “waste”.
Thus a line of lamps based on the use of small pieces of wood was designed. This made standardization and production much easier. Even though they’re varied, they still hold a unified visual coherence in their design, and retain the wood’s natural color.
